From Broadway to Ames the performance of A Night with Janis Joplin will take place at Stephens Auditorium on October 4. This musical journey of rock & roll’s greatest legend, Janis Joplin, takes the audience back to the 60’s music scene with icons like Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, and Bessie Smith. The musical was written and directed by Randy Johnson. Johnson fuels the production with unforgettable songs including “Me and Bobby McGee,” “Piece of My Heart,” and “Mercedes Benz.” Joplin was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame in 1995 and posthumously given a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.
