IPERS Data Breach Update

Posted on Thursday, November 2, 2017 in Recent News

According to IPERS  “On October 31, IPERS learned that 103 retiree accounts were compromised in mid-October. Criminals using stolen Social Security numbers and birth dates registered for IPERS online account access where they changed direct deposit information, and redirected the benefit payments to a different financial institution.

IPERS has reissued the benefit payments to the correct financial institutions. For now, online account access has been suspended. The Department of Criminal Investigation and the FBI have been contacted and IPERS will pursue full prosecution against the criminals.

Retirees are asked to confirm with their financial institution receipt of their October payment immediately. If you suspect something is wrong, contact IPERS as soon as possible.”

Please confirm the receipt of your October IPERS payment by reviewing your First National Bank account information online at www.FNB247.com or call us at 515-232-5561.
